About Carbon
Carbon is a pioneering force in the additive manufacturing world. Their cutting-edge technology offers design freedom and customization, minimizing the total number of components required while eliminating tooling costs. With a wide selection of materials, including rigid and flexible polyurethane, silicone, and more, Carbon’s platform enables the production of parts with complex geometries previously impossible with traditional manufacturing methods.
The Digital Light Synthesis™ technology is an additive manufacturing method that employs both light and oxygen to construct parts, using autonomous optimization of the printing process which uses artificial intelligence and machine learning.
It operates in the following way:
- Projects UV images created by a digital light engine through an oxygen-permeable window into a pool of UV-curable resin.
- Parts are cured slice by slice, with each slice ranging from 25 to 100 microns.
- A washing or rinsing phase is administered to remove excess material.
- Support structures are then taken away, and the parts are placed into ovens for final curing.
This process yields production-ready components that boast remarkable mechanical characteristics, resolution, and surface finish, all accomplished in a matter of days rather than weeks. While it can prototype impressive components, its true specialization lies in consistent and repeated production runs.

The Significance of the Partnership
This partnership is significant not only for Rosti but also for the industries we serve. Our adoption of Carbon DLS™ technology in our innovation labs is a remarkable solution that enables faster manufacturing processes, ensuring quicker time-to-market for our customers’ products. With Carbon technology, we can deliver superior precision, quality, and efficiency, setting us apart from our competitors.
Rosti’s partnership with Carbon has equipped our global organization with cutting-edge capabilities to 3D print prototypes and production components using Carbon® M3 printers and Digital Light Synthesis™ technology. This technology offers parts made of incredible elastomeric and rigid materials comparable to or even superior to those produced through injection molding in terms of finish and quality.
